Dear Friends and Members of the St.
Thomas More Society,
Happy New Year! With the advent of the New Year we have very important
business to attend to, and I write to remind you about it.
The Annual Meeting of the St. Thomas More Society is this Sunday at
6:30PM in the Parish Hall. We will meet immediately following the 5PM
Mass. Our purpose is to re-appoint the seven-member board that has
governed the Society’s affairs since our inception last year. In
addition, we may well expand the membership of the board, should a
Society member indicate an interest in serving in this capacity. We
will also review the 2006 budget, be greeted by our Pastor, Msgr.
Feldcamp, and hear reports regarding my progress towards ordination and
our general progress as a group. Finally, I would ask that you use the
Annual Meeting as a forum to offer feedback about what we have
accomplished thus far, as well as share whatever ideas you may have to
assist in our growth as an evangelical endeavor. I cannot overstate the
importance of your presence there this Sunday.
The Mass on Sunday will be a wonderful celebration. My sister, Sarah,
whom you have seen regularly at various Society events, recently entered
catechetical preparation to be confirmed in the Catholic Church. In the
meantime she has asked that her son, Benjamin, be baptized at one of our
Masses. That Mass is this Sunday. You will recognize the baptismal
liturgy, as it is practically verbatim from the Book of Common Prayer,
and Msgr. Feldcamp has graciously agreed to be the celebrant. Please
come to church to welcome our newest Society member into the Church!
A board meeting at 3PM in the Parish Hall will precede the Mass. I have
said before, and it bears repeating, that you are all welcome to attend
every board meeting to give your own input or simply to sit as a silent
observer. We desire to be transparent in all we do, and the trustees
will happily host however many members wish to sit in on our business
sessions. The business of the Society is your business and we would
welcome your active participation in it.
I
look forward to seeing all of you Sunday. With a grateful heart for
your continued support for our ministry by your prayers and deeds, I am,
Yours in Christ,
Eric L. Bergman,Director
