Announcements
Our Lenten Adult Education Series continues on Monday
nights. After 5:30 p.m. Mass, we enjoy a simple potluck supper
together (please bring bread, fruit, or a crock of soup to
share), followed by class at 6:45. Our subject matter is the
discernment of spirits. Please join us!
Daylight Saving Time
begins on March 14. Remember that clocks “spring
forward” by an hour next Saturday night.
Our Little Flowers Club for girls learning the virtues of
Catholic living through the lives of the Saints continues to
meet on the second Sunday of each month, with noon potluck lunch
and 1 p.m. meeting. All girls ages 5 and up and their mothers
are welcome!
Bake Sale.
On Sunday, March 21, the Society will hold a Bake Sale to
benefit St. Francis of Assisi Soup Kitchen downtown. All are
encouraged to drop off baked items prior to Mass on that day;
afterward they will be sold in the Narthex and Church Hall.
During Lent, our chapter of the Guardian of the Redeemer
Catholic Men’s Fellowship will meet on the first and
third Tuesday evenings after Mass to discuss the joys
and challenges of being Catholic men today. All men are welcome.
Because all daily Masses (including Thursdays) during Lent will
be at 5:30 p.m., Choir School choristers will all
rehearse from 4:30 to 5:20 p.m., and Confirmation
Class will be held after Mass until 7:00 p.m.
Adoration, Evensong, & Benediction.
On the first Sunday of each month the Society offers Eucharistic
Adoration throughout the afternoon, concluding with Evensong and
Benediction at 5:00 p.m. Please sign up for an afternoon time
slot in the Narthex, and join us for these important
opportunities for prayer and worship.
Since the first Sunday of April will be Easter Sunday, there
will be NO Adoration, Evensong, & Benediction next month.
Please join us when these worship opportunities resume on
Sunday, May 2
Little Flowers Pilgrimage:
Due to the lack of availability of a bus on our originally
planned date of April 17, we have rescheduled our pilgrimage to
the Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel for May 8… and have
reserved the bus! Little flowers families, please RSVP to Sandy
Campbell (862-3001) regarding how many in your family intend to
go.
The 2010 Anglican Use Conference will be held June 10-12
at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, NJ.
The cost is $125 for members of the Anglican Use Society, $150
for non-members, and $75 if you’d only like to attend the Friday
evening dinner with keynote speaker, Bishop Juan Ignacio Arrieta
Ochoa do Chinchetru, Secretary to the Pontifical Council for
Legistlative Texts (and therefore an authoritative source on the
implications of the Apostolic Constitution). Registration and
hotel information are available at:
www.anglicanuseconference.com
Tract Rack:
If you have questions about the Catholic faith or you know
others who do, the brochures and CDs in the tract rack in the
narthex have answers!
Birthright:
Remember to make a contribution to the Birthright basket every
month. This all-volunteer organization, which supports the
emotional and practical needs of women facing unexpected
pregnancy, depends solely on your generosity to maintain their
center at 502 Cedar Avenue in Scranton.
Special Collections for 2010
are listed below. All are important means of supporting our
Church, from the local to the worldwide scale. On these Sundays,
please give in accordance with your means and your calling.
